Alpe D'Huez Days Three and Four

On the third day the theme was Charity shop but we had decided to celebrate Emma's birthday that night and charity shop simply wasn't good enough so we made 80s Prom our theme and there were some pretty impressive outfits. The boys found suit jackets and turned them inside out to reveal some interesting patterns in the lining.

The girls found some beautiful dresses with lots of chiffon, velvet and bows galore. I somehow decided to be Prom Queen (despite it being Emma's birthday!) and wore a tiara and corsage with my metallic prom dress, we all looked like we were from Grease or Never Been Kissed.

Before we left the hotel we played musical statues to classic 80s tunes. We then went to a bar called Rum Bar which served flavoured rums in milk bottles on its own, needless to say we may have had a few too many lemony rums!

The next day's skiing proved to be very short with everyone incredibly tired and hungover but we did still get to see a few lovely views.

{Not a bad hangover cure}

The fourth night was Space Vikings, I don't think I've ever seen so much tin foil scattered around the hotel, everyone was silver! We decided to be a bit different and use leeks as our Viking batons however, we quickly became the girls who smelt of onions and our leek duels left us with quite floppy leeks.

Our prom night was obviously the best theme, I don't think we were too sure on the space vikings, sort of a strange mix! I'll update you on the rest of the holiday tomorrow!

Monday Eye Candy

Today's Monday Eye Candy is another favourite actor of mine, he screams effortlessly cool and his acting isn't bad either.

Ladies, I give you Ryan Gosling....

{Blue Valentine}

If you haven't watched many of his films, get yourself down to Blockbuster and rent Crazy Stupid Love, Drive, Blue Valentine (DO NOT watch this with parents ever!) and of course The Notebook. A very talented man with a rather beautiful face.

Friday Playlist

I don't pretend to know lots about music and I'm most definitely not up to date enough to tell you about brand new music (for that you need to go to Amy Weller's blog http://pariswasburning.tumblr.com/ ) but heres a few things I've been listening to this week:

{This mix has been on replay non stop this week and has been making me desperate to go out, not good for essay writing!}

{Daughter - Medicine. I've loved Daughter since the Ben Howard gig I went to, this is just beautiful and sets you up for a chilled evening with good food and a couple of glasses of wine!}

{Joker - On my Mind. I found this song at the end of the mix above and had to listen to the whole song, I'm pretty sure its been around for a while but I did warn you I'm not on it with the brand new music!}

{This is one of Annie Mac's Mini Mixes which I listen to religiously. I've been a little obsessed with the Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs since I saw them at Lounge on the Fram in the summer with a huge Indian headdress on! Anyway the mix is pretty good with some old croonie classics wrestling their way in!}

I hope everyone has a fab weekend, I'm at home for a week so expect lots of recipe posts (and hopefully the rest of my holiday) up next week! See you Monday!

Wessex Raceway

Today, I lost my Go Karting virginity and basically I'm now a pro. It wasn't just a fun day out though I was actually being a good friend and helped my friend Jacob with the film he was making there.

Jacob had been asked to remake their safety video which is shown to all newbies before they step out onto the track, the old one was about 10 years old and quite a good example of 90s fashion!

We got to do quite a lot of driving but no racing and it is so much fun! If you like driving fast in a car but worry you'll die and crash, this is perfect for you as there's a lot less risk of hurting yourself!

So I am now officially famous if the film goes ahead, I am the face of the National Karting Association's Safety Briefing Video, which is basically pure fame.

Men's Style

I was hoping to do a blog post today of the next two days of my holiday but my friends are being very slow to upload their photos (hint hint) so I thought I'd do a post I'd been wanting to do for quite a while. Men's Style!

Pinterest is a pretty good source to get inspiration for men's style, especially my favourite style of bow ties, cute jumpers and smart suits. So without further ado, boys suit up and girls you have permission to have a little dribble at your computer!

Alpe D'Huez Day One and Two

I'm finally back from skiing and have a terrible case of post holiday blues, I just want to be back there now!!

We all met at university on the Friday a week and a half ago and helped ourselves to a few drinks before the coach journey from hell, our theme for the coach was red gangster, I think everyone may know by now how little I can pull that look off so gold hoop earrings and too much bronzer it was!

{Ready to get on the coach}

{My coach buddy Elliza}

{Petrol pit stop}

I won't go into the coach journey much, suffice to say it was horrible and the smell will never leave me...

We got to Alpe D'Huez after many winding roads in the afternoon and settled into our little shared room with Emma, Lucy and Emma's sister Jen. Then we went out to a club called Underground, which is falsely named as it isn't underground but did have some tube maps to keep us feeling at home.

{A few of us at underground}

{Lucy looking surprised}

I guess I should mention the skiing, it was very nice and I think I slightly improved throughout the trip. It was the end of the season so it was very sunny but slushy snow, a slight goggle tan began to form!

{Chairlift and gorgeous view}

{Ski chums}

{Pretty mountains}

{Getting ready for our first ski}

The next night was the first of our themed nights, Band Geek! The theme was Spring Break so we decided to go as the nerds who go to band camp, unfortunately I am actually one of those nerds who went to band camp every summer, but lets just forget that fact.

For the outfits we had plain white polos tucked into shorts with writing on our backs saying 'This one time on the ski trip...' with varying events varying from the standard sexual student to exposing a forehead and my incredibly dull 'I had a bath'.

Anyway we all had our own instrument to make a glorious band of music, we went to a bar with many tables to dance on and then onto a sweat box club, then off home we went for midnight snacks.

{Our little band}

{A good looking bunch of nerds}

{I told you it was a sweat box}

Already the trip was shaping up to be a pretty good one...

(P.S. None of those photography is mine, it ranges from Anna, Emma, Lucy, Elliza and BU Snowriders photography - sorry for stealing guys!)

Easter Nests

I'm back! Apologies for the week of silence, due to some difficulties (i.e. my Mum accidentally deleting my drafts) I couldn't update last week so I'm back with lots to tell.

Skiing was pretty amazing but so exhausting, I would have done a post today about the trip but I haven't managed to get friends photos all together yet, but all in good time!

So I thought I'd concentrate on yesterday, Easter Sunday. I couldn't make it home this Easter so all the Bournemouth stragglers got together for a delicious roast and I made a little dessert extra for those chocolate lovers. I made the traditional mini egg nests, its so simple and speedy but they scream Easter which was very needed when you don't have a garden to Easter Egg hunt in!

The recipe was made up and so I don't have any exact measurements or a proper recipe but it's so easy to make.

You will need:

Bars of chocolate (I used 200g and made 15 nests I think)
Cornflakes (or Shreddies or Rice Crispies)
Mini Eggs
Cupcake cases (optional but pretty)

You need to do:

1. Heat the chocolate in a ban marie, basically put a bowl of the chocolate broken into pieces on top of a saucepan of boiling water, and keep stirring until it's all melted.

2. Pop in your cornflakes, you need enough so that they're lightly covered by chocolate, not too much that it's gloopy (technical term) but not too little that you can see the orange cornflakes.

3. Get a baking tray and pile on the mixture into your cases or into balls of whatever size you fancy, make sure they're clumped together though.

4. Pop your mini eggs on top and leave in the fridge until they're set and you can pick them up without it all falling apart. Don't take them out until you're JUST about to eat them otherwise they'll melt and will get chocolatey cornflakes all over you.

The end result could look a little like this:

A perfect easter treat even after easter, you can use up all those extra eggs! Hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to tell you all about the ski trip and our AMAZING outfits.
